In the process of building a society ruled by law, forensic expertise, as a crucial link in ensuring judicial fairness and scientific judgment, has become increasingly prominent. On August 15, 2024, the 34th session of the Hebang Lecture Hall kicked off at 3 pm on time, attracting more than 20 colleagues from the firm to participate. The lecture was hosted by Zhang Wenbin, a partner at Hebang, and Mr. Shen Hongbin, the director of the Forensic Expertise Institute of China Guangzhou Analysis and Testing Center, the director of the Guangdong Forensic Expertise Association, and the director of the Guangdong Trace Specialty Committee, was invited as the keynote speaker. With the theme of "The Decisive Role of Forensic Expertise in Handling Litigation Cases," he deeply analyzed the core value and role of forensic expertise in judicial practice.
Director Shen Hongbin, with his extensive professional experience and profound expertise, delivered a knowledgeable feast to the audience. The lecture began with an introduction to the concept and background of forensic identification, providing a detailed overview of the entire process from acceptance, implementation to report issuance. It emphasized the importance of standardized and normalized operations in ensuring the scientific and impartial nature of identification results.
Subsequently, Director Shen systematically reviewed the classification of judicial expertise practice, covering multiple fields such as forensic medicine, physical evidence, audio-visual materials, and environmental damage, providing the audience with a more comprehensive understanding of the breadth and professionalism of judicial expertise. He emphasized that with the continuous advancement of technology, judicial expertise technology is also constantly being updated and iterated, providing more precise and powerful support for solving complex cases.
The core part of the lecture focused on the "decisive role of forensic identification in litigation". Director Shen Hongbin, through vivid case analysis, elucidated the crucial role of forensic identification conclusions in court trials. He pointed out that in many major and difficult cases, forensic identification conclusions often become the key factor determining the direction of the case, playing an irreplaceable important role in safeguarding social fairness and justice, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of the parties.
