Liao Zhiquan, Deputy Director of the International Legal Department at Hebang Law Firm, has been appointed as a mentor for the "2024 11th International Criminal Court Moot Court Competition (English) China Selection Trial" at the School of International Law, East China University of Political Science and Law.

The International Criminal Court Moot Court Competition (ICCMCC) enjoys direct support from the International Court of Justice and boasts a rich history and profound heritage, making it a highly influential moot court competition. Based on the substantive and procedural rules of the International Criminal Court (ICC), it provides a platform for participants to practice and understand the rules of international criminal law. In the competition, participating teams are required to present the views of the prosecution, defense, and government on the given case, and submit complete written pleadings. This year's case covers various aspects such as the validity of independent referendums, ecocide, environmental human rights, crimes against humanity, the authority of the United Nations General Assembly, and the establishment of a United Nations international investigation mechanism. Each team needs to conduct in-depth research on these controversial points and write a 10,000-word written pleading in English. During the oral argument phase, they also need to defend their position on-site in fluent English. By participating in ICCMC, participants can gain a deeper understanding of international criminal law, enhance their legal literacy and debate skills.
